Subject: http://p4p.blogspot.com -- 10 NEWS items I need you to see.

I have posted ten news items on the Palaces for the
People weblog page:
http://p4p.blogspot.com

Rather than send large amounts of emails to each
member of the Palaces For The People discussion
groups, I refer to them by address instead. You are
requested to visit http://p4p.blogspot.com at your
convenience and review these news clips.

These are fairly current news stories of up to 8
million people significantly affected by flooding in
asia. In one district of China 30,000 adobe (mud
brick) houses collapsed from the floods. What a
surprise -- who would ever guess that mud bricks would
melt under water, eh?

In Orissa, again, over 70 villages are deluged, while
2 billion rupees development funds allocated by the
government go unspent.

In Bihar, India, around 5.5 million people of 3,977
villages dotting 23 districts of the state have been
hit by the floods, the state government said in a
statement on Wednesday. http://p4p.blogspot.com

Notice, as you read these articles, that all of this
chaos and dislocation misery is caused by waist-high
and chest-high waters. Palaces For the People puts the
residential portion of the building at least 5 meters
(16 feet) above ground floor level, and with
flood-proofing options we know how to do, we can
protect the ground floor as well.

After all, we build submarines which can house people
under the oceans for months at a time. Waterproof
walling: we build swimming pools that keep the wet
side wet and the dry side dry. What is so difficult
about understanding that the costs of NOT DOING are
higher than the costs of doing?

With the technologies widely known we can spare
literally hundreds of millions of wasted man-hours
(woman-hours) of evacuations, living in tents,
rebuilding. Some of these areas flooded FIVE TIMES
THIS YEAR!

WAKE UP PEOPLE: GLOBAL WARMING DISASTERS ARE HERE NOW!
IT IS NOT SOME FUTURE PROBLEM DECADES TO COME -- here
it is. 50,000,000 metered customers blacked out in the
northwest after relentless weeks of storms and
flooding in US midwest. 500,000 Washington, DC, area
customers blacked out, some for weeks, by a weakened
Isabel, which was at its peak the strongest hurricane
winds ever recorded by mankind.

We have a big problem which does not go away by
pretending we can leave it for the next generation to
deal with. WE HAVE TO DEAL WITH IT.

Let's have some talking going on. What contribution
are you here to make?
