Microsoft Calls AdTI "Study" an "Unhelpful Distraction"

Authored by: LionKuntz on Wednesday, June 16 2004 @ 01:50 AM EDT
Microsoft has seen agressive retaliatory responses against AdTI. M$ sees the
heighening of such responses subject to emulation by copycats. Rather than allow
a bad gambit to create a permanent counterstrike force, AdTI is thrown to the
wolves in a PUBLIC refutation.

AdTI has already generated a whirlwind of investigations that will decapitate
it. It has no future. The forces released cannot be easily recalled or stilled,
even if anybody wanted that.

Using the WALL STREET JOURNAL as the vehicle to inform AdTI that they can please
fall on their sword now, and cease to exist, is not a measure of how BAD ADTI
IS, but how GOOD THE COUNTERSTRIKE ACTION HAS BEEN.

AdTI was not talking to nerds -- not for one New York Minute. AdTI was talking
to legislators, to newspaper publishers, to talk show hosts, telling them what
the new script would be for all the chorus to sing in unison. AdTI is only one
of a phalanx of choirboys in this chorus -- five other think tanks were
identified in the anti-Linus, anti-"Open Source" hit squad.

The COUNTERSTRIKE FORCE hit back, not with nerdy expose's of minutia about Minux
v Linux (yawn), but by exposing AdTI's dirty laundry from the Tobacco archives
online, linking past and present puppet figures who toady the party line with
sordid and tawdry payoffs from truely villianous and hated industries. The
counterstrike team has been dismantling AdTI as an organization, as a vehicle
for use ever again.

AdTI was a liability, a causualty of war, a consumable resource of no more value
than a used kleenex. "Important people" might have gotten hurt, if the
counterstrike force kept digging, kept uncovering yet more links to dirty
business almost too old to be news any more.

Keystone individuals, priceless because of the difficulty of replacing them,
were in (are in) imminent danger of being negated and forced off the playing
field. This is about POWER, not MONEY -- M$ has billions and Gates personally
has as much again. It has been all about domination and control.

Sloppy planning left AdTI a role after the tobacco trials had put too many
incriminating documents into public domain, records deposited in court case
histories too numerous, with too many citations in too many places to ever
sanitize them all. AdTI should have been retired and the pieces recycled, like
so many other front operations have been before it. Instead, somebody goofed,
and kept it going, and it ended up with a piece of the M$ contract (contract as
in mafia contract, meaning "execution") on Linux and Open Source.

It is about POWER and DOMINATION, not money.

The COUNTERSTRIKE FORCE hit AdTI so hard that a very public symbol had to be
made to everybody that AdTI is "on its own", sink or swim by its own
strength. That's what the WSJ article is saying. Reporters don't write news --
they write the news that their editors (and the rich people who own media)
permit to be written. It doesn't matter what a reporter wants to write -- the
editor has the blue pencil to scratch out anything that doesn't fit the
definition of news by the powers that govern the media.

So, this is a "statement" from power to power -- we acknowledge your
ability to inflict pain. "our peace offering is you can have AdTI
duct-taped in a package for all we care", but we are aware of who YOU are
now". Don't underestimate AdTI's director Christopher Cox's role on
"Homeland Security", or the power of the world's biggest software
company to do research.

It's a victory won at a price. The COUNTERSTRIKE TEAM will now have to engage in
multiple defensive actions off the radar screens of the nerds who have gone back
to sleep. This was anticipated in the beginning. The night-shift has been
fighting for your freedoms for years as the subversion of America has proceeded
during your long naps.

SCO and AdTI are merely pawns, not even important enough to be actual players
themselves. This is "news", but not the "news" it looks like
on the surface. People who play covert conniving games, like M$ or AdTI, can
never be judged on the surface appearances.

Thank You AdTI, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You

Thank You AdTI, Thank You, Thank You, Thank You...

If it had not been for AdTI making a pain in the ass of themselves, I would have
remained too lethargic to find the very well buried documentation I have been
looking for diligently for years.

AdTI raised themselves above the horizon to create an attractive target for some
research. It led to the corrupt reports they did in the pay of tobacco
companies.

That lead to investigations of each and every mentioned person connected to the
tobacco reports in the online tobacco documents confiscated for discovery in the
big lawsuits a few years ago.

That in turn led to the connections of corrupt individuals whom I have been
eager to get the goods on to shut them down.

AdTI is directly responsible for leading me to the "smoking guns" that
ties S. Fred Singer to the asbestos industry, tobacco industry, to corrupt
organizations with fancy names like Alexis de Tocqueville Institution (which was
nothing more than a rented fly-by-night offices and post office box for most of
its history).

In the course of scratching the itch that AdTI caused I was able to uncover the
tobacco documents binding the "Heidelberg Appeal" to ICSE to Philip
Morris through numerous faxes and reports. I was able to locate the smoking guns
on Michael Gough, Steven J. Milloy, even Sallie Baliunas. Singer's wife, PBS
producer of "Thinktank" was a fish caught in the net.

The George Mason University covert links to Koch Industries became clear as a
bell, where before they had no obvious connecting threads.

Oh, BoyOhBoyOhBoyOhBoy... I feel like a kid on Christmas morning unwrapping
present after present after present.

Thank You AdTI -- you gave me Chris Cox's head on a platter. You gave me Bruce
Ames and Frederick Seitz. You gave me the whole deceptive anti-global-warming
cabal, and all the evidence I need to obliterate their credibility.

I already published one after another after another compilation to weblogs and
newsgroups and activists centers where the informed will dog these corrupt
enviro-criminals out of science and out of public discourse.

Thank You Bill Gates! With all your money you could have been having a high time
enjoying life, but instead you tried to dominate others and used flawed tools
like AdTI. Their greed to obtain your money was not matched by skill in covering
their trail, and the paper trails (with copies deposited in multiple court
records as evidence in the tobacco trials) can never be erased.

Now, the Wall Street Journal says "enough AdTI", let's put that all
quietly behind us -- but it's too late. The annoyance of AdTI has already
produced the bonanza that turned the tide. Evidence of CRIMINAL CONSPIRACY has
been obtained. We may put the Wall Street Journal behind us, but the criminal
prosecutions, and low-level canaries singing their hearts out are all just ahead
of us. These are trials more interesting than SCO v IBM!!!

Yes, Thank You Bill Gates! Thank You, AdTI! Thank You, Thank You, Thank You!

Read 'em and weep...

More documented evidence on the corruption of S. Fred Singer.

1993 and 1994 were busy moments in the life of S. Fred Singer. During this period of time Singer was using offices  provided by Sun Myung Moon ("moonies") founding his "Science and Environmental Policy Project" ("SEPP"), orchestrating the "Heidelberg Appeal" to counter the Union of Concerned Scientists' "Appeal to Humanity", organizing two corrupt science reports published by Alexis de Tocqueville Institution attacking the EPA, participating in the Tobacco Institute "Whitecoats Project", and co-hosting two fraudulent science gatherings.

One of these science gatherings called "Scientific Integrity in the Public Policy Process", was co-sponsored by International Center for Scientific Ecology ("ICSE") and SEPP, both which were S. Fred Singer front organizations, held May 24-25th, 1993, at the Madison Hotel in Washington, D.C.

http://tobaccodocuments.org/pm/2502284041-4042.html

Singer, already in the employ of the Whitecoats Project, was globally known to tobacco executives around the world. Here are a few surviving fax references to the International Center for Scientific Ecology, linking the Heidelberg Appeal to tobacco stealth activities.

Three of these faxes explicitly mention the "Heidelberg Appeal" and the Paris ICSE meeting in the same document. The body of documention found in tobacco industry files includes materials impossible to obtain except by collaboration of the Heidelberg Appeal/ICSE key figures. There are drafts of the guidelines to use for the meeting, pre-meeting lists of invited panelists, and, of course, there is a particularly touching post-meeting report by tobacco industry stealth Whitecoat agent Peter N. Lee.

Lee's report, on the foundational meeting/seminar of an organization named "International Center for Scientific Ecology" has his amusing comment "Having said that, it was notable that no members of environmental organizations had been invited to the conference, so counter-arguments were often not made." It took a number or reading for the importance of that fact to sink in -- no ecologists, no environmental scientists with any understanding of the ecological world, were invited to an event hosted by "International Center for Scientific Ecology". Lee's cynical sneering of the "restricted" nature of this meeting is clear evidence in itself of the pure industry-propaganda purpose of this organization.

''Subject: the Heidelberg Appeal ...This coalition has its roots in the asbestos industry. ... We are involved ... but we are being discrete because some of the coalition members are concerned about a "tobacco connection".  Our strategy is to continue discretely supporting the coalition and help it grow in size and credibility.''

Up until the 1994 time period, Richard Mellon Scaife was the principal ultra-right-wing donor to "Institute of Humane Studies" at George Mason University. In later years Scaife's continuing donations would be dwarfed by Koch Industry, owners killer Charles G. Koch, and killer David H. Koch.

http://www.atlasusa.org/highlight_archive/1995/H1995-02-Environment.html -- In January 1995, the Science & Environmental Policy Project moved to Fairfax, joining Atlas, the Institute for Humane Studies, The Locke Institute, and the Center for Market Processes at "4084 University Drive" near George Mason University. Atlas provided a grant to IPPS to facilitate the move and help fund the organization during its first year in Fairfax.

Listed at the same address as SEPP and Atlas are Institute for Humane Studies, Locke Institute, and the Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program.

The Institute of Humane Studies was a smokescreen affiliation S. Fred Singer used in an AdTI-tobacco whitecoats fraudulent science report during the 1993-1994 time period.

Certainly the most indisputable evidence of moral turpitude of S. Fred Singer was his crafting of the "Science, Economics, and Environmental Policy: A Critical Examination A Research Report Conducted by the Alexis De Tocqueville Institution" Date: 11 Aug 1994, Length: 70 pages

Not one single member of the "Academic Advisory Board", the so-called "peer-reviewers", can be found clean of taint of corruption. Almost every one of them has important monetary attachments to Tobacco Whitecoats Project, George Mason University (Scaife-Koch) funding, and/or other dirty-industry flacking.

Recall that ICSE/Heidelberg Appeal "has its roots in the asbestos industry" and the section on asbestos in this AdTI report makes more sense than if looked at only as a tobacco-funded smokescreen.

William Hazelton operated a lab for the DDT whitewash -- DDT was banned as environmentally disasterous, and the bugs soon developed resistant mutations, so it was ineffectual as well, NOT because it was cancer-causing, but Hazelton's disproof of cancer-causing is supposed to show the EPA was wrong to ban DDT. DDT also appeared in tobacco, having saturated the growing soils and having a very long half-life in the soils, so tobacco funded the tobacco-friendly spokesperson Hazelton lavishly.

Hazelton was party to the fraudulent AdTI 1994 'science report" by S. Fred Singer and Kent Jeffreys. the AdTI report of main controversy was: "Science, Economics, and Environmental Policy: A Critical Examination, A Research Report Conducted by the Alexis De Tocqueville Institution", where Hazelton was listed as "Academic Advisory Board" member. Hazelton is listed on page 14 of this RJ Reynolds Tobacco Company document, http://tobaccodocuments.org/rjr/506934337-4358.pdf, as receiving $479,357 in 1987, $763,995 in 1998, and budgeted for $550,000 in 1989.

Another turncoat, "whitecoat Robert D. Tollison" received these check numbers:

page 6:

Cumulative General Ledger the Tobacco Institute Inc. Period Ending 09-30-87

* Robert D. Tollison Check #42538 87-MAR-30 $16,450

* Robert D. Tollison Check #44247 87-MAY-29 $14,075

page 7:

* Robert D. Tollison Check #45160 87-JUL-07 $27,388

* Robert D. Tollison Check #45717 87-JUL-22 $7,750 (Totals paid over 5 months = $65,663.)
